Fleet Maintenance Coordinator

Job Description


JOB SUMMARY: This individual will be responsible for preventative and existing maintenance pertaining to the fleet of trucks and petroleum tanker trailers.  This individual will support local drivers at the Newport Terminal as well as all out state drivers. 


  • Oversee all truck and trailer maintenance at the Newport Terminal and for out state drivers
  • Monitor daily inspections and maintenance frequency for Newport and out state drivers
  • Physically perform minor repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Schedule/coordinate service for trucks/trailers with 3rd party vendors for Newport and out state drivers
  • Effectively communicate with IDT drivers and 3rd party service vendors regarding maintenance scheduling
  • Evaluate services provided by 3rd parties and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Order and manage supplies and equipment needed for IDT fleet at Newport and out state drivers
  • Organize and maintain maintenance files/logs regarding service and repairs of all fleet
  • Provide administrative duties (signing off and coordinating payment of invoices, researching maintenance problems or questions, etc.)
  • Assist with various projects as requested by management



  • Five plus years of applicable fleet maintenance experience with the ability to perform repairs
  • Previous knowledge of tractor/trailer parts and supplies
  • 2-3 years of experience working with tractor/trailer service companies
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Effective communications skills
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to work independently
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a group setting (with drivers and dispatchers).





  • Must have high school diploma  
  • Trade school education or a two-year degree is preferred
  • Class A-CDL license
  • Tanker and HazMat endorsement
  • Tractor-trailer driving experience
