Director of Warehouse Operations

Job Description


The Director of Warehouse Operations will be responsible for the supervision and training of all Managers at multiple distribution and service centers.  Responsible for overseeing receiving, storage, and shipping for the assigned locations, including organization and staffing.


  • Review processes for receiving and implement procedures and controls to ensure all items received in all warehouses are properly verified and documented.
  • Review warehouse processes related to shipping for all distribution centers.  Implement appropriate procedures/controls to ensure orders are properly picked (on FIFO basis), scanned, labeled, and shipped according to company guidelines.  This includes reviewing current inventory levels along with the schedule of incoming inventory and customers’ open order/backorders to plan work activities.  Speed and accuracy are key elements to success.
  • Maintain organization of all inventory items and warehouse cleanliness.
  • Ensure that cycle counting procedures are being completed as scheduled.
  • Monitor operating expenses for each warehouse’s performance against budget.
  • Conduct and track the housekeeping audit for the warehouses. 
  • Track information related to LTL and TL shipments.  Use this information to conduct a comparative analysis of the various lanes of traffic and negotiate tariffs with carriers.
  • Order supplies as needed in areas of responsibility.
  • Respond to customer service inquiries.
  • Ensure all safety practices are being followed.
  • To identify next level employees in each location for possible future advancement.
  • Responsible for all warehouses being OSHA and FDA compliant.
  • Ensure that each location is visited at a minimum of four times a year.
  • Ensure that all orders are shipped according to our company policies or contractual obligations.
  • Implement and lead where appropriate, LEAN and 4DX WIGS
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional Vice President


This position has supervisory direct reports including all Distribution and Service Center Managers.




Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Intermediate Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Intermediate Skills:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Total knowledge of Keefe product lines and services.
  • Effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage a diverse group of individuals.
  • Complete understanding of company policy and procedure guides and the ability to utilize and train staff on such.
  • Ability to use various software programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience in an A/S 400 environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often be required to stand, sit, use hands, talk and hear.  The employee will occasionally be required to walk, reach, stoop and kneel.  There are no special vision requirements. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs


The noise level is moderate (examples:  Warehouses with staff and forklifts in operation).


  • Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented atmosphere.
  • Must obtain forklift certification.
  • Must pass drug, background, motor vehicle record, and credit checks.
