DC Maintenance Technician




Lead technicians will perform preventative maintenance and routine maintenance tasks using a variety of hand and power tools.  As directed by the Manager, will perform a full range of repairs using discretion and experience.  Assist in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, and may recommend purchases, cost savings measures, following well-defined procedures, methods, and practices.


Job Responsibilities


  • Participates as a specialized knowledge resource in established processes.
  • Suggests improvements to business processes and independently completes small sub-projects within a defined course of action.
  • Will organize specialized and defined information for review.
  • Tends to reference documented process and practices and learnings from previous experience to address challenges.  May handle more common complex challenges but Escalates situations that have not been encountered previously.
  • Most decisions are based on prescribed and dictated guidelines.  Knowledge of theory and practice Will assist with the ability to interpret and determine next course of action that May deviate from the norm.
  • Understands and accommodates established process and project timing.  Deviates only if provided direction.
  • Relies on general direction to understand importance and urgency of work content.


Position Responsibilities

  • 40%: Performs routine preventative maintenance, ensuring equipment is operational and safe.
  • 20%: Identify, troubleshoot, and repair failure of production and facilities equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency. 
  • 15%: Work closely with outside vendors who work on equipment to ensure job is completed to the required specifications.
  • 20%: Responsible for maintaining maintenance standards, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • 5%: Maintain an inventory of spare parts for all equipment.




Prerequisite Skills/Experience for this position


  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and/or technical trade certificate.
  • 5 – 8+ years experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, HVAC, and electrical repair.
  • Reading, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a Personal Computer (PC) and related business software.
  • Ability to work independently with or without close supervision.
  • Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift, push or pull up to 40 lbs, 60% of the time during a shift.
  • Must be certified to operate all forms of equipment.
