Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. The YMCA is currently looking a part-time Play & Learn Program Facilitators to work with families in this program. This person must speak Spanish and have a passion for working with families.  The Play & Learn Program Facilitator will collaborate with community partners involved in Play & Learn through regular communication, asking for feedback, referrals, use of space, and strengthening the collaborations all ready established. Facilitators will intentionally guide child learning in each session through planning developmentally and culturally appropriate child directed play centers as well as planned group activities which support child development and growth. This will include preparing materials and information, gathering supplies, and setting up/cleaning up the space prior to and after each session.  Facilitators are responsible for planning and guiding intentional caregiver learning for each session of Play & Learn. This includes modeling play activities and caregiver-child interactions; modeling how to help children share and interact with one another; coaching and guiding caregivers in play activities and in interactions with the children; presenting and demonstrating information; and responding to –and following up to – caregiver questions and requests for assistance and information. He/She will be responsible for creating a safe, trusting, collaborative learning community at Play & Learn by welcoming and orienting new participants to Play & Learn; creating intentional opportunities for caregivers to build supportive relationships among themselves; providing opportunities for caregivers to develop leadership within the Play & Learn group (eg, reading books at story time, leading a group activity, helping to recruit new participants, etc.); soliciting and responding to caregiver in-put; and responding to emergencies that arise during Play & Learn.  Facilitators must complete administrative and record-keeping tasks related to Play & Learn and other job responsibilities which includes tracking the attendance of participants and providing information such as attendance reports, weblist updates, etc. to the Play & Learn Network.  Facilitator must complete Play & Learn 101 training, attend other Play & Learn Network trainings and workshops as required, participate in Play & Learn Network-sponsored evaluation and data collection, and any other meetings and events deemed necessary by supervisor.  



• Experience and/or training in:
                  o Caregiver/parent education and family support
                  o Early childhood education development
                  o Group facilitation

• Must speak Spanish

• Have a commitment to and passion for working with families

• Experience in working collaboratively with people from a variety of economic, educational, cultural and family backgrounds

• Able to work independently, problem-solve as well as multi-task and prioritize multiple demands on her/his time and attention                     

• Must pass a criminal background check

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs

• Have current (or willing to get within first 30 days) CPR/Infant CPR and First Aid certification'

• Must be 18 or older

• Must have reliable transportation to travel between Play & Learn sites (The Y will provide mileage reimbursement for employees that provide expense reports with a valid proof of auto insurance).
