WELLNESS - Personal Training Coordinator

Location: Dallas, TX (Lake Highlands YMCA - 8920 Stults Road)

Job Description


The Personal Training Coordinator will recruit, train, supervise and evaluate paid part-time floor staff and personal trainers. He/she will assist in creating and monitoring annual budget including payroll and will oversee the maintenance of fitness equipment and inventory control of program supplies. He/she will train and educate all staff on Mind/Body. The coordinator will also teach new fitness orientations and develop new training programs to include youth programming. He/She is responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining all training equipment. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting with special events and will oversee Healthy Kids Day.  He/she will perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary.



Must be able to build relationships and rapport with members and staff. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups. Must be enthusiastic and exude a desire to motivate and help others to improve their level of health and well being. Must hold a current personal training certification from one of the following groups: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) or Cooper Institute. Four-year college degree in Exercise Science or related field of study or working on degree preferred. 3+ years of practical experience in health and wellness preferred. Minimum age requirement is  21. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, demonstrate all cardiovascular and weight machines, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be proficient in Windows based programs i.e. Word, Excel and Publisher. Must be able to pass and maintain CPR, first aid, AED, blood borne pathogen, child abuse training certifications. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Spanish speaking a plus.
