Starting Wage: DOE

Would you like to share your passion for music with others? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to make a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model to help them achieve personal growth? As the music instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants in music classes.

If hired for this position you will work with the program director to develop lesson plans with a natural progression that relate to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught as well as reflect YMCA core values. You will participate in performances, Y Arts Week events and other YMCA events as assigned. You will fine tune your skills as an instructor by teaching and demonstrating sound technical and artistic principles.

In this position you will provide an impactful member experience by monitoring student progress in all classes and effectively communicating program information and student progress to the arts director. You will ensure high quality member-focused music programs by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants.

As a part time employee, you will receive paid sick leave and an individual membership to the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.

 

Requirements

 


Are you a good fit?
 

  • I have 5 years of formal music training.
  • I have 1-2 years of experience as a music teacher and/or teaching assistant.
  • I am able to instruct beginning and intermediate level music classes.
  • I am excited to teach music classes for ages preschool through adult.
  • I have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
  • I firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
