Description

 

Position develops and implements creative programming for individuals with intellectual and related developmental disabilities.  Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, implementing all aspects of the program, providing direct supervision to Day Habilitation Trainers, to include development of job descriptions, recruitment and selection of staff, job training, performance evaluation, coaching and progressive discipline.  Establishing goals and related activities for individuals that are congruent with the existing goals and curriculum in the Day Habilitation Program.  Assisting individuals in activities that explore their personal creative abilities, maintaining program tools/supplies and ensuring facilities and equipment are in a clean and orderly condition.  Observing participants and recording progress toward achieving individual goals.  Assisting in creating public awareness events and activities geared towards producing revenue, recruiting, engaging and sustaining a productive volunteer base to support classroom activities and overall program goals.  Working with team members to achieve individual goals and the overall day habilitation mission.  

 

Salary: $15.16/hourly

Minimum Requirements

 

Requires a high school diploma or GED plus four years of work experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities or related conditions.  Additional and relevant education may substitute for the required work experience on a year for year basis.  Must have knowledge of therapeutic methods and techniques for individual and group instruction, an ability to adapt techniques for best outcomes.  Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.  Must be able to work well with participants in a team environment and maintain professionalism at all times.  Must have proficient computer skills including MS Word and Outlook.  Must have a valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record, as well as personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas.
