Description

 

Administers, processes, and maintains company benefits programs. Performs a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. Works under general supervision. Provides support in functional areas of a Human Resources Department and Compensation Management.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Conduct new employee Benefit Orientation Meetings and assist employees in completing paperwork. Review/Certify all paperwork for completeness and accuracy according to rules and regulations of the State Employee Insurance Program.  Assist all employees with annual and/or open enrollment each October.

2.  Process/Report all Retirement Disbursements/Hardships, Disability Claims, Student Accident Claims, Workers Compensation and OSHA records as it relates to job-related accidents.

3.  Maintain/Update employee’s benefits to assure deductions for payroll processing are accurate.

4.  Generate, process and balance all agency benefits for payment on a monthly basis.  Prepare  required quarterly reports.

5. Cancel employee’s coverage upon termination and provide them with required COBRA  information.    

6.  Serve as an advocate and resource for employees as it relates to all benefits.

ACCOUNTABILITY

For timeliness and accuracy of work. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required as well as exercising independent judgment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delegate clerical task to Human Resource Clerks. Act as Assistant HR Manager in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree in Business or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the job description. A minimum of five years experience with administrative details including training. Computer experience necessary particularly in Excel, charting, spreadsheets and creating formulas.
