JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk and Master, the Clerk & Master Deputy Clerk, performs standard office support duties. Answers incoming telephone calls; assists the public and attorneys at front counter by filing lawsuits and pleadings. Receipts child support payments, and enters data into computer. Checks out court files for Judge’s trail docket.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:     

  • Performs a variety of general office support functions
  • Answers telephone and responds to requests or transfers calls to appropriate party or office
  • Receives and receipts child support payments for disbursement
  • Enters required data into computer to properly set up new lawsuits and relays pertinent information and instructions for service of process;
  • Receives pleadings from attorneys
  • Interfaces with public, attorneys and judges and subsequently researches data and provides information requested
  • In absence of primary clerk, assists in the entering of data on pleadings filed and service of process information
  • Assists in the entering of court cost payments into the computer
  • Performs other assigned duties.

Minimum Requirements

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High School Diploma;
  • Two (2) years of experience;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and 
  • Valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skilled in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs;
  • Working knowledge of administrative policies and procedures;
  • Working knowledge of computerized systems and their applications;
  • Good oral and written communication skills and necessary;
  • Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work requires lifting and carrying (up to 10 pounds); crouching, grasping, hearing, lifting, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

  • Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
