Description

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK
This position is responsible for coordinating the use of all electronic equipment used in data collection and/or the maintenance and repair of all electronic monitoring equipment used by the Department.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.

  • Prepare equipment cost estimates and specifications.
  • Use different types of complex testing equipment.
  • Read and understand schematic diagrams.
  • Coordinate the proper types of equipment to be used in data collection efforts.
  • Test and program integrated circuits (computer chips).
  • Design new equipment when needed.
  • Perform on-site repair of complex electronic equipment.
  • Prepare computerized internet communication equipment for installation at remote sites.

Minimum Requirements

 

The educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school and graduation or certification from an accredited electronics training institute or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Statewide travel as necessary. Demonstrated ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.

("Accredited" means the educational institution or program is accredited by an accrediting organization recognized either by the United States Department of Education or by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.)
