Open to the Public

Part Time 1st/2nd Shift After School and Weekends  

Must be a High School Student or Equivalent

 

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of ZCS Assistant Director, shadow and assist Visitor Services Representative. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests and count and maintain number of guests.
  • Provide information and assistance to the general public and assist with guided tours.
  • Prepare rooms for events.
  • Prepare activities for school groups.
  • Maintain inventory count of supplies for activities.
  • Assist scheduling by logging all confirmed events.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times.  Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

  • Contact with a wide range of audiences, including school-aged children, professionals, college & university students, tribal officials, governmental officials, and international visitors.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, customs, history, and spirituality.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to provide tours and information to visitors.
  • Ability to deal with staff and public in a courteous manner. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
  • Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally sit and reach with arms and hands.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

  • Museum environment. 
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. 
  • Travel may be required.

Minimum Requirements

 
  • High School student or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

Native American preference shall apply to all positions
