Starting Wage: $225+/week, depending on qualifications

Date of Employment:  June 10 – August 24, 2019

This is a Residential position that includes room and board.

                                                                                                                                                                 
Would you like to change lives by providing an amazing experience for every camper?  At Camp Seymour you get to teach kids self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership – all amidst the fun of camp fires, canoeing, archery, talent shows, and meaningful relationships.

If hired for this position you will live and work at Camp.  You will actively supervise and maintain safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate archery programs and events.  Work with leadership staff and the Summer Program Director to plan, organize, and facilitate all archery programming for Day Camp, Overnight Camp, and visiting groups.

You will spend your days outside laughing, talking, and participating in camp archery activities.  By the end of the summer you will be the adult role model who encourages creativity, instills confidence, self-esteem, a life of adventure, and a sense of belonging. 

In this position you will be able to use your skills to:

  • Build Relationships:
    • Maintain weekly observations on staff performance; give staff positive and constructive feedback; communicate significant observations to direct supervisors.
    • Respond to requests, inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and appropriate fashion to assure that staff and campers feel valued.
  • Make great decisions:
    • Monitor archery equipment and supplies, repair and resupply as necessary.
    • Seek out and use staff and camper feedback to improve programs and services.
  • Provide quality results:
    • Work with leadership staff & all staff to coordinate and implement overall camp program.
    • Provides progressive instruction in archery classes. 
    • Delivers a high-value experience to campers and participants.
  • Be a role model and teach values:
    • Serve as a cabin counselor when coverage is needed.
    • Know the name and support the dream of every child in the program.
    • Share experiences and provide training to assist others with their development.

Requirements

 

 

Are you a good fit?

  • I am at least 21 years old.
  • I have worked at a camp for at least one season.
  • I have experience teaching camp activities and/or two years of personal archery experience.
  • I have Level II Archery Instructor Certification from USA Archery (preferred).
  • I want to make the difference in the life of a child this summer.
