Operations Manager - Holiday Support Facility

Job Description

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize, implement and successfully manage production efficiency and quality standards to meet and exceed HSF goals.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing process to include purchasing, inventory management, scheduling and daily reporting.
  • Manage the employment and training of production and maintenance staff.
  • Ensure implementation and administration of department policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Ensure product specs, position certification and SOP’s are current and adhered to.
  • Prepare operational analyses for management team.
  • System Administration for key programs (Bakers Dozen, Labels, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the daily production operations of the company and all its components.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Maintain and improve production efficiency and quality standards adherence.
  • Recommend and implement optimal production solutions and equipment needs.
  • Responsible for staff adherence and improvement using Continuous Improvement  principles
  • Manage production personnel: Work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Evaluate employee performance and motivate to achieve peak productivity.
  • Play a key role with management team to implement new or revise current products and procedures: packaging, ingredient research, and costing. 
  • Manage a proactive equipment and facility maintenance program.
  • Forecast facility capabilities and manage annual production operating budget.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Proven history of successful goal setting, achievement, and employee growth management.
  • Familiar with food processing equipment.
  • Procurement management.
  • Has designed and/or implemented HAACP programs.
  • Proven success with efficient production line organization and output improvement.
    • Experienced team builder and participant.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to motivate and lead a diverse work force to achieve desired results.
  • Proven history of successful creation and implementation of training programs & operational procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS applications, such as but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Meet/Exceed all budget goals
  • Develop and maintain an efficient and effective workforce
  • Perform and monitor action plans to meet/exceed Production Standards resulting in increased efficiency and decreased cost
  1. Safety/Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure the workforce works in a Safe efficient manner
  • Ensure HSF meets all FDA and MN Department of Health requirements
  • Help develop and maintain a positive, professional and safe work environment
  1. Reporting/Communication
  • Provide weekly updates to HSF Plant Manager pertaining to Production systems
  • Produce reports and documents summarizing the Production activity at the HSF

  • Acts independently with general supervision

 

SIGNIFICANT EXTERNAL/INTERNAL CONTACTS:

  • Requires definition of problems, solutions, discussion, persuasion and obtaining approvals.

      

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   

  • Continuous Improvement process mindset
  • Production/Demand planning skills
  • Able to comprehend GMPs, Sanitation processes, Product recall procedures and HAACP,  
  • Physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant.
  • Inventory Management
  • Able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
  • Able to generate written and verbal communications clearly and distinctly.
  • Strong computer skills in business related software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a food production operation including food service production
  • Working knowledge of food production equipment
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead employees

 

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:  

Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in Production Management in a USDA/FDA food-manufacturing environment

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

7+ years of Production Management experience in a food production environment
