Join us for a new and exciting adventure as we open for our inaugural summer at YMCA Camp Lake Helena! At summer camp you get to dress up, sing songs, participate in arts & crafts, swimming, Gaga, and fun games and activities all while making a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model and help them achieve personal growth. 

If hired for this position you will respond to situations and provide appropriate intervention, possibly including water rescues, first aide, or CPR, and follow up in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. You will ensure the safety of our members at all times by vigilantly scanning the swimming, boating and other lake areas. You will know, understand, and consistently communicate and apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for all aquatic areas.

Requirements

 


Are you a good fit?

  • I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
  • I am at least 16 years old.
  • I have six months or more of related experience.
  • I have previous experience working with youth and diverse populations.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly in the water.
  • Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
  • Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
  • See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
