Drives split-axle tractor trailer to deliver goods from depot to warehouses and other depots. Maintains driving and equipment records; logs time and mileage. Drives hydraulic 5th wheel tractor in depot yard to move trailers.  Inspects and logs trailers. Communicates with co-workers, other drivers, and suppliers about delivery status. Hooks and unhooks trailers to tractor. Maintains vehicle according to safety and general road standards. Maintains all licenses according to regulations. Documents accidents. Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards. Provide prompt and courteous member service.


  • Drives split-axle tractor/trailer combination to deliver goods from depot to warehouses and other depots within a 100 air-mile radius as instructed. Hauls empty trailers, trailers with pallets, and vendor loads back to depot.
  • Performs Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report on assigned equipment prior to operation and update throughout the day. Records mileage and time on Driver’s Log.
  • Drives 5th wheel hydraulic tractor to move, stage, and position trailers in Depot yard. Cuts lock seals for inbound trailers. Verifies and logs temperatures on refrigerated trailers and log trailers in yard. Reports on yard and dock view. Receives directions from guard booth, shipping, receiving, pallet, and fleet.
  • Communicates with co-workers, other drivers, and suppliers about status of deliveries. Reports position, gets instructions, verifies, and reports on upcoming road conditions and notify of arrival. Directs loading when necessary.
  • Hooks and unhooks trailers to tractor. Checks oil, air, water and washer fluid, adding as needed. Scales axle weights before each trip. Installs tire chains as needed.
  • Maintains all licenses, certifications and testing in good standing and complies with Costco and government regulations, reporting, policies and procedures. Documents accidents, notifies Police and Costco Fleet management, and photographs accident scene.
  • Assists with loading and unloading trailers at delivery and pick-up as necessary.
  • Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.
  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service to drivers, members, employees, and suppliers.

   Licenses and Certifications

Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Material endorsement, satisfactory Physical Exam results (every 2 years), successful comprehensive road test using Costco equipment and Cargo loading and securing or comparable experience; HAZMAT - Module 1, HAZMAT - General Awareness, and HAZMAT - Security Plan Training (all within 30 days)


5 years tractor-trailer combination driving, split axle or comparable experience and 3 years clean driving record


    Other Skills and Abilities

           Must be at least 25 years of age



           High School Diploma or GED and trade school
