Do you want to be a positive adult role model who works with teens to give them purpose and passion in life and tools for success? Do you want to support teens in giving them the power to create or influence any law or change minds by using their voice? As the Youth and Government Coordinator, you will assist in organizing and implementing the YMCA Youth and Government Program, including supervising a volunteer crew of teen coordinators.

If hired for this position you will work with program participants to ensure ensure engagement, provide support, guidance and encouragement. You will assist in the delivery of the YMCA Youth and Government program within the YMCA and at targeted local middle and high schools. You will communicate effectively and maintain open and regular communication with all principals, teachers, parents, participants, and the Youth and Government Director.

You will participate in all local, district and state events/trainings as they relate to Youth and Government. You will transport teens to and from district/state events in YMCA buses or rented vehicles as needed. You will also meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

As a part time employee, you will receive paid sick leave and an individual membership to the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.

Requirements

 

 

Are you a good fit?
 

  • I have at least three years’ experience with youth development.
  • I have a basic knowledge of state government.
  • I have a positive attitude and previous experience with teens and diverse populations.
  • I enjoy working with teens.
  • I have knowledge of teen issues, interests, and activities and can relate to, instruct, and mentor teens.
  • I have a valid driver’s license and at least three years of driving experience.
  • I have a driving record that meets or exceeds YMCA standards.
  • I have current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
