As a Development Officer, you will secure advanced annual gifts ($1,000 to $5,000) for Lutheran Social Service (LSS), both undesignated and designated to specific lines of service, and the Children’s Home Society (CHS) from current donors and potential individual and organizational donors throughout Minnesota. The Development Officer will be part of a team providing leadership to the advanced annual giving program and collaborate with other advancement staff to develop and implement fundraising strategies to expand support for Minnesotans supported by LSS.

The Development Officer will build and maintain a portfolio of approximately 200-400 Advanced Annual donors and prospects. Most donors will live in Minnesota. Advanced annual gifts are considered to be gifts of $1,000 to $5,000. The Development Officer is expected to fundraise at least $750,000 a year.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree/experience required.
  • 2 years of experience in advancement, sales or related experience. 
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong planning and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Minnesota’s giving community.
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Proven familiarity with local and surrounding community resources and prospective donors.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software a plus.
  • Driver’s license required.
