GENERAL DUTIES 

This position is a strong advocate for process improvement through data-driven decision making throughout the organization, including financial planning, revenue cycle management, clinical quality and operational performance.   Approaches his/her tasks in a team based care fashion that supports patients and their families in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change.

Given that healthcare is moving to a value based (quality measures based) or per-member-per month payment methodology, this position will also coordinate all of the revenue cycle efforts throughout the organization.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Directly supervises two report writers and one medical billing specialist.

SCOPE OF DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY AND SPECIFIC DUTIES

This position will have authority for the following:

  • Operation of the Decision Support Team.
  • vendor relations with decision support applications, outsouced billing company and 3rd party payor contracts.
  • Coordination of revenue-cycle processes throughout the organization.

Other specific duties are as follows:

  1. Oversee preparation of annual operational and grant budgeting.
  2. Maintain customer service workflows to optimize internal customer experience in working with the decision support team and tools.
  3. Maintain customer service workflows to optimize both internal and external customer experience as it relates to the revenue cycle process.
  4. Analyze quantitative measure of the effectiveness of collection efforts and make process improvement recommendations to the CFO.
  5. Maintain Salud’s standard Fee Schedule and Sliding-Fee Schedule and make recommendation for changes to the CFO.
  6. Coordinates revenue cycle regulatory compliance efforts.
  7. Works in conjunction with other Medical Providers, Dental Providers, Behavioral Health Providers and all other staff to ensure that the patients obtain the highest standards of integrated healthcare.
  8. Follows procedures for  the electronic health records system
  9. Acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud
  10. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a Quantitative Science, required.
  2. Stong knowledge of data mining, analysis and reporting skill and tools, required.
  3. Five (5) years relevant experience, required.
  4. Three (3) years experience in a healthcare setting, strongly preferred.
  5. Demonstrated achievement of organizational objectives using the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
    • Assertive communication skills with the ability to adapt content and style to reach consensus among a diverse workforce of medical professionals, senior administrative leaders and other employees, required.
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to change, required.
    • Must work well with the other patient care team members.
    • Strong financial analysis, problem solving and data-driving decision making skills, required.
    • Strong planning, organizing and prioritization skills, required.
    • Ability to lead and motivate to positive results and outcomes without formal authority, required.
    • Knowledge of healthcare revenue-cycle and billing, strongly preferred.
    • Thorough understanding of business management, organizational behavior, change mangemant and projected management tools and techniques, preferred.

PHYSICAL EQUIREMENTS

 

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, stretching, lifting and traveling to other departments and work sites. 
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment 75%-95% of the time. 
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
  • Requires the ability to convey detailed spoken information to internal and external customers individually and in groups, both over the phone and in-person.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 lbs. occasionally
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record data electronically and communicating with patients.
