Job Summary:  The Manager of Organizational Design and Workforce Planning will lead the development and build of Wawa’s organizational design initiatives, processes and capabilities in order to achieve our human capital strategy goals.  Serve as a trusted strategic partner, delivering leading edge advisory services that influence decisions related to alignment of resources, roles and responsibilities that add value to successfully support Wawa’s business strategy.  Responsible for ensuring we continually have the right business models, operating models and organizational models (soft and hard structures) to build the right organizational capabilities, at the right cost, needed to propel the growth strategies of the business.

Principal Duties:

  1. Build the organizational design framework and processes, and lead related projects, fostering the development of organizational capabilities and structures needed to support the execution of the business strategy.
  2. Build credibility and consult with senior management on a variety of organization effectiveness issues for both current state and future growth and development. Support senior management in organizational changes, providing process support and tools that facilitate a proactive development of organizational capabilities.
  3. Utilize organization design tools and methods that are practical and business focused as well as bring to the table new designs, tools, and methods that will help position the organization for growth.
  4. Build mechanisms to assess and monitor the success of organizational models. Design feedback loops to incorporate organizational member’s feedback into organization’s continuous improvements.
  5. Leveraging deep organizational design expertise, provide consultative services in all matters related to organizational design and team dynamics.
  6. Direct the development and implementation of a strategic workforce plan aligned to meet the needs of the business and the strategic intent of the organization.  Monitor business progress and headcount against the execution of workforce plans and ensure plans are aligned with corporate goals, values and competencies.  Use workforce planning methodologies to determine strengths and strategic opportunities in collaboration with internal clients.
  7. Create current and multi-year hiring and retention forecasts to enable the business to facilitate long term workforce planning.
  8. Manage the corporate headcount approval process for all replacements and additions. Oversee corporate position management and organization structure within core HRIS.
  9.  Develop the functional and leadership competencies required for all jobs and build developmental/promotional opportunities within job families and functional areas.
  10.  Use knowledge of objectives, strategies and needs to identify opportunities where data can be leveraged to achieve desired results.  Coordinate workforce reports for leadership.
  11. Oversee the maintenance of the systems and processes for job creation and job evaluation.
  12. Maintain current knowledge of environmental, legal and regulatory factors that impact workforce planning and organizational design practices. 
  13. Provide overall direction and support for team and monitors and assesses individual  work in accordance with high standards of excellence.  Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.

Minimum Requirements

 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in business, industrial psychology, human resources, or related field preferred.
  • Related professional certifications preferred
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • 5+ years’ experience in organizational design and redesign, and team dynamics (virtual and face to face).
  • Strong technical knowledge in areas of organization design
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, and problem-solving; and must possess an impeccable attention to detail
