The Program Instructor’s position reports directly to the Youth Development Director. The Program instructor works birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays. They also work in our teen center. Make relationship building top priority at all times.   This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Hartford are conveyed. Demonstrate true passion for the Y’s mission and understanding for the community we serve.




Birthday Parties- Effectively prepare the birthday party room, help the parents with whatever is needed, and to clean up when the party is finished. It is also to provide a fun and safe experience through out all parties worked.  


Teen Center- To provide a fun and safe experience. To ensure great customer service with the parents who are dropping off and picking up the children. To ensure that the room is always clean at all times. To always report issues to the youth development director.



  • Excellent theatrical acting and improvisational skills
  •  Previous experience working with children ages 10-17
  • On stage experience with a wide range of skills for facilitating the curricular and performing arts use of the auditorium.
  • College Background preferred
  • Strong Work Ethics
  • Must possess skills to direct acting and monologue presentations
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Excellent collaborative skills and all-around team player
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Supports and contributes to a safe, clean environment for participants, staff and visitors by implementing appropriate safety procedures and following YMCA guidelines, including;
  1. Checking the drama space area for safety hazards prior to the start of each class.
  2. Checking the condition of participant before the start of class
  3. Follow All YMCA policies and procedures, as required
  4. Clearing participants at the conclusion of each class
  5. Ensure all classes are implemented with premier quality and innovation.
