POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Director, the tennis counselor is responsible to work on the tennis courts with children under 10 years old. Also the tennis counselor is responsible to be in the pool with the 10 under children during pool break. Counselor will be responsible for clay court maintenance. Counselor will receive a free tennis clinic to advanced his or hers tennis experience while working at Hope Valley Farms tennis camp. Candidate is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established the YMCA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  4. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Minimum Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.   Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting

2.   Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: tennis, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc

3.   Required certifications and/or training

4.   Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
  2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
