Position Summary:

You'll test raw materials and finished products for microbiological testing, the presence of heavy metals by ICP-MS, pesticides by GC-MS, and identification characteristics by UV-VIS spectrometry, wet chemistry techniques, FTIR and TLC. You will also aid in finished product stability testing program for various customer products by pulling the samples from the stability chambers, using tracking spreadsheets to keep data organized, and sending samples to outside testing firms.


  • Follow and ensure compliance to quality system and cGMP programs.
  • Create sample tables for botanicals, minerals and finished products and complete all sample prep for ICP-MS and GC-MS analysis.
  • Pull stability samples, update Lab Services stability tracking spreadsheets, create testing data sheets, and send samples out as needed for outside testing.
  • Review data for ICP-MS, GC-MS, Mid-IR, UV-VIS, and Microbial results as needed.
  • Contribute to Laboratory Services documents such as STMs, Standard Operating Procedures, quarterly OOS report, Raw Material Identification report, and review reports for others.
  • Take chart readings for all laboratory refrigerators, ovens, incubators, and stability chambers and replace charts as directed.
  • Log samples into the laboratory, and sign raw materials out of the laboratory through MAS500 upon completion of all testing.
  • Perform daily microbiological testing.
  • Aid in OOS investigations.
  • Perform ID testing using TLC, FTIR, and organoleptic procedures.

Position Summary:

Technician will be responsible for microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products and retention/stability finished products using Biolumix, Veriflow, and AOAC and USP methods, including enumeration of probiotic raw materials and finished products. The Micro lab is also responsible for monthly and weekly environmental testing of the manufacturing facilities. In addition, the technician is responsible for upkeep of spreadsheets for tracking and to keep data organized. Support is also provided for other groups in the lab.  




  • Follow and ensure compliance to quality system and cGMP programs
  • Perform daily microbiological testing
  • Log samples in to the laboratory using AX, and generate specification sheets
  • Complete sample prep for Biolumix and Veriflow
  • Update tracking spreadsheets
  • Contribute to Laboratory Services documents such as STMs, Standard Operating procedures, report and review reports for others
  • Take daily verification readings for micro lab incubators, refrigerators and freezers
  • Calibration and verification of micro lab equipment
  • Operation of the autoclave
  • Perform and aid in OOS investigations
  • Wash dishes and make media used for microbiological testing



Minimum Requirements


Job Requirements:


  • Must have college degree in a science related field, or minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • No certifications or licenses required.
  • Must have moderate math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills needed.
  • Must have experience with Excel.
  • Some work experience preferred.
