JOB SUMMARY

The Judicial Commissioner reviews Criminal Warrants and ensures that they contain probable cause for an arrest. Additionally, the incumbent arraigns person(s) charged with crimes, sets court dates and bail bond amounts for them.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Completes all arrest forms including Arrest Warrant, Initial Appearance, Question Form, Bond Conditions, Issue Orders of Protection;
  • Performs all data entry for the initial criminal case including: generating the forms, entering the information in to the TNCIS system, and then scanning all of the forms in to the computer program;
  • Arraigns person(s) charged with crimes, sets court dates and bail bond amounts for them;
  • Reviews Affidavit of Complaints for Arrest; and
  • Performs other assigned duties

Minimum Requirements

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High School Diploma;
  • Ten (10) years of working experience;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience;
  • Minimum 25 years of age at time of appointment;
  • Resident of Blount County TN; and 
  • Valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skilled in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems;
  • Skilled in using computers for data entry;
  • Ability to present a courteous and professional demeanor at all times; and
  • Ability to organize and communicate effectively

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work requires lifting and carrying (up to 10 pounds); crawling, crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work involves mobility to and from parking lot and work station, other offices, and the employee break room.
