Unit Manager-RN

As a Unit Manager you will be responsible for

  • Managing all aspects of the delivery of nursing services on assigned unit of responsibility including the appropriate application of clinical knowledge, administrative oversight, and supervisory accountability to achieve quality resident care outcomes.  
  • Supervises performance and behavior of staff holding them accountable for caregiving practices, job performance, customer service, record-keeping, dress code standards, attendance, policy compliance, etc. 
  • Provides “on the spot” training, guidance, coaching and counseling as needed to correct and improve staff performance.
  • Implements formal corrective action in compliance with established policy.   Included may be suspending a staff member and gathering / recording information regarding circumstances that lead to suspension.   
  • Makes decisions regarding employment terminations and notifies employees in an objective and professional manner.   
  • Participates in the interview process and selects or makes recommendations for selection of staff for department or unit of responsibility
  • Collaborates with immediate supervisor to develop annual operating and capital budgets; Operates within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Uses sound professional judgment to appropriately advise immediate supervisor or Administrator of non-routine occurrences or issues.    

Requirements

 
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing in preparation for Registered Nurse.
  • One year previous nursing experience in long term care environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations governing nursing homes in Virginia. Basic knowledge of MDS and care plan process.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in Virginia or a compact state or eligible to obtain Virginia license.
