Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Description

 

As a Speech Therapist you will be responsible for:

  • Identification of needs and delivery of services to residents who require speech therapy intervention in accordance with all Federal, State and facility requirements.
  • Collaborates with facility staff to promote the highest practicable Speech, mental, and psychosocial well being for the residents.
  • Screens, evaluates, and develops speech therapy programs for implementation for all residents, as needed.
  • Provides clinical supervision to Speech Therapy students and Rehab Technicians in accordance with State guidelines.
  • Develops effective speech therapy treatment plans and goals to meet each residents needs, and produce meaningful functional outcomes.
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to attain productivity and efficiency benchmarks established by the company and the facility on a consistent basis.
  • Completes documentation, functional outcome, and billing in an accurate, timely, and legible manner consistent with published regulations and standards for insurance compliance and reimbursement.
  • Ensures MD orders are obtained according to facility and/or company policy and procedure.
  • As directed by DOR or ADOR, assists with orientation of new rehab personnel to the facility and to rehab department systems.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving skills
  • Complies with ASHA code of ethics, State Practice Act for Speech Language Pathology, and HIPAA guidelines
  • Obtains Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) required for maintenance of State licensure to practice
  • Completes renewal process for State licensure timely to avoid expiration and submits copies of renewed license to Rehab Director and HR.  


 

Requirements

 
  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathology program. 
  • Must be licensed as a Speech Therapist in Virginia and hold a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence, or be a recent licensed graduate accumulating the supervised experience required to obtain a Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Successful completion of required clinical affiliations, preferably including at least one rotation in the SNF setting.
