The Controller supervises and coordinates all functions of the Accounting Department in the maintenance and processing of all financial transactions for the company and its affiliated holdings. Responsible for the successful performance of all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, billing, payroll, general ledger, collections and other accounting services. Coordinates with Vice President to manage company cash reserves and on-going financial issues related to reporting, collecting, billing and other accounting department issues. Participates in investment decisions and monitoring return on investments. Coordinates, reviews and approves annual audit results for workers’ compensation policy, pension plan and annual financial statements. Manages the accounting system data processing software and coordinates upgrades and/or conversions and training as needed. By participating in the hiring, training, evaluation, and supervision of department employees, you will be a vital part of our exceptional team.
Successful maintenance of this position requires a high level of accuracy in terms of reports and systems, an ability to be flexible and adaptable to needs of administration, and capability of supervising a productive department.

Responsible for the successful performance of all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, debt covenant, billing, payroll, general ledger, collections and other accounting services. Standardizes procedures and initiates policy and procedural changes. Ensures records, files, and reports are maintained in accordance with CNS standards.
Coordinates and assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for use in financial administration of all facilities and reporting to third parties.
Coordinates and reviews with Vice President to manage company cash reserves. Participates in investment decisions and monitoring return on investments. Acts to safeguard the company’s cash reserves.
Reports accidents involving company vehicles to the company’s insurance company. Coordinates and relays information about the accident to the insurance company. Works to coordinate getting estimates and assessing damages and repairs to company vehicles as well as third party vehicles.
Reviews and approves purchases made for the clinic and residential operations that are of high dollar value, over $4,000 and up to $50,000.
Prepares annual budgets and monthly actual to budget comparisons.
Computes and files special reports required by government agencies as relates to these areas.
Reviews and advises with Assistant Controller and Vice President-Finance on complex collection issues. Coordinates with Vice President to assess the collectibility of accounts receivable and works with third party legal and/or collection agencies, as needed, to further the accounts receivable collection process.
Participates in developing, promoting and maintaining a relationship with the company’s financial banking institute. Communication skills are necessary for establishing and maintaining relationship.
Coordinates and monitors the company’s 401(k) Plan and assists in preparation of annual reports. Interacts with the Plan’s third party administrator and investment advisor. Reviews quarterly investment reports. Reviews and coordinates the communications of changes to the plan documents and oversees distribution of plan information to the plan participants.
Conducts monthly staff meetings as needed to inform staff of changes in policies and procedures as well as identify and address any internal or external issues.
Meets regularly with Vice President - Finance to discuss and inform of on-going financial issues related to reporting, collecting, billing and other accounting department issues.
Interviews and hires new Accounting Department employees and acquires temporary help when necessary in coordination with the Human Resources Department. Requires ability to communicate with potential employees and staff and ability to make decisions when hiring, disciplining, and resolving disagreements.
Reviews and participates as needed in job performance evaluations for accounting staff in a timely manner.
Coordinates, reviews and approves annual audit results for workers’ compensation policy, pension plan audit and year-end review engagement.
Manages the accounting system data processing software and coordinates upgrades and/or conversions and training as needed.
Maintains professional and ethical relationships with staff, patients, patient families, insurance adjusters, attorneys and other visitors.

SPECIAL SKILLS UTILIZED, EDUCATION LEVEL, TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required.
CPA certificate or comparable license is required.
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in corporate accounting along with staff management responsibilities required; some experience in health care or rehabilitation management preferred.
PC-based computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and accounting software are required.
