Purpose of Job

Monitors, maintains, and operates controls of water plant equipment. 

Essential Job Duties 

 

A.  Monitor water plant

  • Monitors the operation of plant controls, valves, pumps, chemical injection systems, flow control systems, flocculators, filters, etc.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and inspections to water plant equipment including cleaning equipment, facilities, filters and tanks, and assisting with the shutdown and start-up of plant equipment as required.
  • Performs various laboratory tests to ensure proper chemical doses, tests water at different stages of production.
  • Monitors flow rates; keeping logs and records; collects, stores and testing of water samples, weighs tanks and performs temperature readings to ensure proper operation of plant processes.
  • Conducts hourly rounds inspecting and recording plant operations.

Other Job Duties

Performs other job duties as assigned, including:

  • Maintains cleanliness and general housekeeping of plant facility.
  • May operate lawnmower or weedeater to maintain facility grounds.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities to assist other employees in the department as required or assigned.

Primary Job Challenges

Primary challenges of this position include keeping informed of the most current state and federal rules and regulations assuring the plant operates under those requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through attainment of an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
