Position provides Service Coordination and Specialized Skills Training in the Early Childhood Intervention program.  Responsibilities include assisting with the Initial, Annual and all subsequent assessments/evaluations for children from birth to 3 years of age.  Incumbent will participate in the development of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for enrolling eligible children into early intervention services.  Provides service coordination and targeted case management to children and their families.  Assists parents with transition to the local education agency or program for typically developing children as identified on the child’s IFSP.  Also performs public awareness and child find activities throughout the year.  Requires extensive travel in the Hunt, Delta, Hopkins and Lamar Counties, which includes use of personal vehicle for traveling to client homes and transportation of families, as necessary.  

Salary: $15.17/hourly

Mon-Friday (Flex Schedule) 

Position will be located in Greenville or Sulphur Springs depending on where incumbent lives.

Minimum Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in social work, child development and/or family studies, elementary education, special education, nursing, communication disorders, psychology, or counseling and guidance, hold a bachelor's degree which includes a minimum of 15 hours of semester course credit relevant to early childhood intervention with 3 hours of semester course credit in early childhood development or early childhood special education totalling 18 credit hours.  Forty clock hours of continuing education in early childhood development or early childhood special education completed within five years prior to employment with ECI may substitute for the 3 hour semester course credit requirement in early childhood development or early childhood special education.
Upon employment, the successful candidate who does not also hold current Texas licensure or certification in their respective field (e.g., LSW, RN, or EIS) must enter the Competency Demonstration System to become certified as an Early Intervention Specialist, and must obtain certification within two years of enrollment.  Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as well as personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas.  Upon employment, the successful candidate who does not also hold current Texas licensure or certification in their respective field (e.g., LSW, RN, or EIS) must enter the Competency Demonstration System to become certified as an Early Intervention Specialist, and must obtain certification within two years of enrollment.  Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as well as personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas. 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in one of the above noted fields with current Texas licensure or certification as LSW, RN, or EIS, plus one year of experience, in a school or agency setting, working with children who are developmentally delayed, medically fragile, or who have specific developmental disabilities.  Prefer candidate with working computer skills including MS Word, and bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
