Job Description

 

Smile, greet and be courteous to customers, work with management and all other associates to provide a high level of customer service, be punctual, work your schedule, conduct yourself at all times in a professional business manner, assist in any way possible and as directed to provide for a clean and safe store environment, other duties as assigned. Operate a cash register and checkstand to provide the store’s customers with the most accurate and efficient checkout service possible.  Perform stocking and other duties as assigned, depending upon the amount of time available, business volume, and other criteria according to established Company Policy.  Ensure that the work shift contributes to the financial best interests of the store.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

General

  1. Greet, assist and thank all customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business-like manner.
  2. Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associated to build a strong customer service team.
  3. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
  4. Handling of various sales and service functions at the courtesy booth including bottle returns, check cashing, customer complaints, refunds, telephone answering, sales of gift certificates, money orders, cigarettes, stamps, film processing, and EFT sales.
  5. Effectively control proper storage limiting shrink and damaged goods.
  6. Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
  7. Practice proper cash handling procedures, including all media, to prevent losses such as bank deposits (preparing & verifying), verify change orders, count & record pick-ups from registers, count & balance register tills, set up and loan register tills, record payments and deposits properly.
  8. Notify cash office manager of any situations that need attention such as shortages, customer complaints, or requests.
  9. Keep work area swept clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
  10. Be sure to operate and clean department equipment and tools.
  11. Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.

Secondary Job Functions:

 

1.      Resolve customer complaints to the full satisfaction of the customer.

2.      Relieve cashiers for breaks and lunch as necessary.

         3.      Enforce company policy on associate purchases.                                 

4.      Minimize expense control by efficient use of all office and front-end supplies.

5.      Possess knowledge of the front-end computer system in order to rectify problems.

6.      Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene, and a business attitude and professional image at all times.

7.      Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.

8.      Successful completion of the passbook training within 60 days of entering the department.

         9.      Other duties as assigned by management.

         10. Assist on the Front End when needed.

Education and/or Experience:
•    Must be 18 years of age; High School Diploma or Equivalent
•    Cash Office knowledge required. 
•    Demonstrate the capability to interact with customers
•    Must be able to read, write, and speak English adequately
•    Ability to understand and follow English instructions.

•    Physical Demands - Standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, ability to carry/lift 40 lbs, and push/pull 200lb
•    Repetitive Action - Scan products through cash register, counting and handling money, checks and coupons, packing customer’s purchases, cleaning register area.

•    Safety Risk Factors - Twisting, slippery floor surfaces, cluttered floor surfaces, toxic exposure, nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, operation of department equipment.
