General Summary:

The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for communicating financial information across multiple departments in our organization, as well as, directly with senior management.  Responsibilities include producing account reconciliations, month-end close, financial analysis, and assist  in preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP for all companies managed by TBC Corporation.  Numerous special projects assigned from upper level management are also part of responsibilities throughout the year.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed reconciliations for complex functional accounts for one or more entities
  • Provide accurate and timely recording of account transactions for month-end closing process, including the input of journal entries
  • Accumulate and report accounting and non-accounting data from various findings to management
  • Analyzing and reporting of divisional performance
  • Assist with quarterly review, annual external audit and internal JSOX compliance testing
  • Track and reconcile all capital projects budgets
  • Create all WBS projects in SAP and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) while working with IT project managers on reconciling the project budgets 
  • Closure of projects and creating final assets for each WBS element
  • Maintain project schedules detailing the use and rationale in applying guidance under Statements of Position (SOP) 98-1 “Accounting for the Costs of Computer Software Developed or Obtained for Internal Use”
  • Aid in Company’s Capital Expenditure Request (CER) submissions as it relates to IT project which includes budget creation and monitoring of the CERs
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to daily accounting functions

Job Requirements:

  • In depth  understanding of capital vs operating expense and their criteria
  • Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Access and Word, SAP experience is a must
  • Understanding of Capital Module in SAP a plus
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines

 

 

Minimum Requirements

 

 

Education & Experience

 

Education:     Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.  CPA preferred.

Experience:    At least three (3) years of general accounting experience and strong understanding of GAAP.
