General Summary:


The Director of Domestic Transportation will lead the Domestic Transportation group. Manages 5-7 direct reports.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Manage all domestic transportation activities aligned with business priorities and strategies.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Transportation Management and SVP, Logistics & Supply Chain to design and implement domestic transportation strategies for all TBC business entities.
  • Drive analytics to monitor carrier performance and identify opportunities to minimize costs while maximizing service.
  • Interact with other functions, including business entity leaders, planning, distribution / warehousing, omni-channel distribution, global logistics, customs trade & compliance and supply chain performance to develop targets and deliver target performance levels at the optimum overall costs.
  • Lead the development of RFI/RFPs across various modes of transportation on domestic lanes
  • Develop and negotiate contracts with transportation providers.
  • Lead implementation and program management of domestic logistics programs with carriers.
  • Develop and maintain domestic transportation rules tariff, which includes terms governing service levels, rates, classifications, shipping rules, accessorial charges, and carrier practices.
  • Assist and guide the business entities with any domestic logistics / transportation issues and opportunities for cost savings or service improvements.
  • Monitor and support freight payment process issues between carriers and TBC, related to rejected freight bills, short payments on invoices, rate or price discrepancies, general aging issues, etc.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with core providers to ensure outlined service requirements are being met.
  • Must be able to establish timelines and operational goals as well as drive teams to deliver in a fast paced work environment.
  • Communicate and escalate key performance-related issues/opportunities/recommendations to the VP of Transportation Management and SVP, Logistics & Supply Chain.
  • Be a great people leader: build strong relationships and team, hire great people, commit to the growth of individuals on team and lead by example.
  • Manage and drive best practices in global trade compliance to ensure customs, regulatory, and logistics compliance is followed.
  • Establish corporate customs & duties policies and procedures and guide the strategy with regard to customs planning and compliance across business entities.







Minimum Requirements




Education & Experience:


  • 10+ years of experience leading teams in logistics and transportation.
  • Ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience in wholesale distribution.
  • Previous transportation strategic sourcing experience is considered an advantage.  
  • Demonstrated leadership in implementing programs at a level which keeps domestic transportation aligned to performance targets and drives continuous improvement.
  • Possesses sound knowledge and experience in successfully developing and deploying logistics strategies and driving cost-out through disciplined Project Management.
  • Outstanding communication skills.  Proven track record of effectively collaborating with supply chain functions and company stakeholders across the planning and execution.
  • Ability to coordinate with TBC Logistics & Supply Chain Directors, VPs, and executives in developing domestic transportation strategies.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of P&L and operating performance metrics
  • APICS or equivalent Supply Chain certification preferred.
  • Bachelors required. Masters in Operations Research, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
