General Summary:


The Director of Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management will be accountable for leading a team of planners in the forecasting of inventory and the execution of the buy/allocation strategies for a group of tire products. The Director will work collaboratively with purchasing, marketing, and Finance, gaining consensus on one forecast that drives the business. In addition, this role leads the NTW supply chain support team to implement the most efficient and effective supply chain practices yielding and contributing to the financial Performa of the business while developing and implementing NTW’s supply chain strategy and integrated model vision.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales, margin, in-stock and inventory targets. 
  • Collaborate with Buyers, Planners, and Analysts on item flows, JDA (AWR) forecasts, seasonal plans and advertising schedule. 
  • Provide inventory, receipt and shipment forecasts to finance and logistics partners. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of replenishment strategies to the stores. 
  • Development of a high performing planning team that works effectively with other parts of the business and meets overall business targets set by leadership. 
  • Provide day to day leadership, guidance and support ongoing development of career and skills set. 
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the inventory planning processes, ensuring consistency across the team. 
  • Provide guidance to team on approaches and methods for forecast development and maintenance. 
  • Work with purchasing leadership to define a collaborative approach and structure.
  • Partner with Finance, Logistics & the Transportation organization to identify supply chain and financial opportunities 
  • Generate and analyze forecast performance reports. 
  • Define forecast performance targets for planning team.
  • Provide planners/analyst with day to day leadership and guidance while supporting their skill set and career development.
  • Leads the NTW Supply Chain team through integration of Carroll tire and TCi businesses.
    • Inclusive of creation of Carroll & TCi into the NTW business model.
  • Leads/guides the NTW team of supply planners/analyst who oversees supply by vendor or vendor group, oversee inventory policies and replenishment by site and/or region, and overall performance of team and team members.
    • Development of team members inclusive of succession planning.
    • Creation & development of establishing a high performance team.
    • Developing team to network and build relationships to work across boundaries of the TBC business to utilize resources to accomplish objectives.
  • Oversees the regular inventory segmentation process and supports implementing the product screen review at a facility level.
  • Coordinates facility level product screen and product life cycle management with the TBC Product Marketing team
  • Assists in the development of strategies and processes to reduce slow moving and obsolete products within NTW DCs with the TBC Product Marketing team.
    • Develops and maintains KPIs to sustain product turn improvements and product disposition cadence.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to define processes to Phase In and Phase Out (PIPO) SKUs at a NTW DC level, in accordance with the product screen with the TBC Product Marketing team.
  • Prepares materials and participates in regular TBC Supply Planning meetings infusing analytics that influences sound business decisions yielding positive business results.
  • Supports the demand-supply balancing process and S&OP process/cadence.
    • Demand logic.

    • S&OP (integrated business planning) planning.
  • Must be able to establish timelines, financial and operational goals, and drive assigned teams to deliver against these goals in a fast paced work environment.
  • Communicates and escalates key NTW Supply Planning-related issues/opportunities/recommendations to the TBC corporation VP of Supply Chain Planning and SVP, Logistics & Supply Chain senior leadership.

Minimum Requirements


Experience & Education

  • 7+ years of experience leading teams in distribution / capacity / inventory management and the development of consensus supply plans with an integrated business planning tool.
  • 3+ years executive leadership experience.
  • Microsoft Office: Advanced excel, PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, management, mathematics, statistics, supply chain or operations management. Master’s Degree in Supply Chain or MBA an asset Supply Chain Certification is prefered.
  • Experience with one or more of the following supply planning tools (e.g., JDA, SAP, O9, or other advanced planning systems, LLamasoft). JDA Forecasting & Replenishment. Experience in an S&OP environment.
  • Quantitative products: Mathematical and strong statistical knowledge.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to calculate and analyze key forecasting metrics.
  • Business/financial acumen and Supply Chain knowledge.
