PRODUCTION MANAGER - AK SHOREPLANT

Job Description

 

Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates.
  2. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for products.
  3. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  4. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  5. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices.
  6. Inspects production areas to ensure machines, equipment and crew are at optimum utilization.
  7. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances for action.
  8. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. Participates in weekly Safety Meetings

Requirements

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

N/A

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in seafood.  Must have strong HACCP knowledge.  Must have 3-years supervisory experience.                            
Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.

Mental Activities:      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills.
