Job Summary:  This position produces schematic drawings in various locations, including Alaska.

Essential Functions:

  1. Must be capable of following English written, oral, and visual directions with sufficient skill to perform all common duties, specific duties, common physical demands, safety procedures, emergency evacuation procedures, and supervisory instructions.
  2. Must assist all other employees, managers, supervisors, leads, engineers, technicians, administrators, etc. as directed by your supervisor at any time in the performance of their respective duties.

  4. Communicate effectively and professionally with all other employees to accomplish all assigned tasks/projects, common duties, specific duties, common physical demands, safety procedures and emergency evacuation procedures.
  5. Adhere to all Trident policies, good manufacturing procedures, safety policies, bunkhouse rules, employee handbook, and all posted or verbal instructions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Uses computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) systems to create scale drawings for the construction of electrical systems, piping systems, production lines and machinery used in manufacturing.  
  2. Prepares/updates project drawings as instructed by engineering staff  
  3. Prepares telecommunication diagrams and assembly drawings  
  4. Checks and reviews drawings and illustrations before submission  
  5. produces drawings from sketches or specifications that someone else provides  
  6. Takes measurements of existing machinery and production lines so as to produce drawings
  7. Prepares drawings that are used in the manufacture of machinery, tools, and other mechanical products.
  8. Drafters must be capable of working long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time.  Shifts may range from 4 – 12 hours, but are typically 8 to 10 hours (with breaks).  The length varies depending on project demands and travel requirements.  There may be periods where very few hours or no hours are available.

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or zero to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The use of office equipment such as a computer, copier, scanner, facsimile and other hardware necessary to complete the job is expected.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Work Environment: This position takes placein an office environment with exposure to a production environment. This job may be exposed to loud noises. This job will occasionally be required to wear productive gear and equiptment

Physical Demands: This job is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasionally climb. This position is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds.

Mental Activities: This job is required to understand, read, speak and write English. This job will use interpersonal skills, teamwork, decision making and use discretion.
