Job Description


Job Summary: Manages a variety of general office activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Functions

  1. Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures including but not limited to; fishing vessel account management, plant production reporting, shipping, governmental reporting, preparation of payrolls, and month end reporting.  Supervising personnel, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies, and other clerical services.
  2. Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications which include but not limited to Excel, Ceridian software, Microsoft Office Suite and Kronos WFC and HMC.  Ability to demonstrate knowledge or the aptitude for learning  new  office applications. 
  3. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
  4. Leads and guides team  on established policies and procedures and in some cases may align it with the business operations of particular locations.
  5. Demonstrates the ability to seek continuous improvement of cost management in day to day operations. 
  6. Depending on the operations, may prepare or oversee personnel responsible for completing fishing vessel settlements, fish ticket completion, production and shipping reports, governmental reporting,  payroll, and HR and/or account receivables/payables under established guidelines. 
  7. Coordinates activities of various administrative departments or support personnel..
  8. Maintains ongoing contact with fishermen,  employees, local vendors and customers which may vary by location.   Oversees office staff of up to 10 employees dependent on location.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned based on the plant operational and management needs per location.

Four year undergraduate degree or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Mental Activities:       While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use teamwork skills and understand English. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, and customer service skills.  The employee must occasionally read, speak and write English.
