POSITION TITLE:              Vice President, Health Services

DIVISION:                            Health Services

STATUS:                              Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The VP, Health Services directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the operations division of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the President and CEO and Board of Directors. This position oversees those who manage the daily operations of the Company in order to achieve the budgeted contribution to the fixed overhead, client and customer satisfaction, employee training and development objectives, and operational support for new sales.

 POSITION AUTHORITY

This position has the authority to approve daily operational actions within company policy and procedure or within fair and equitable business arrangements without putting the company at legal, ethical or precedent setting risk.  The position has authority to contract for or on behalf of Valley or as a representative of Valley and may bind or attempt to bind Valley to any agreement with any third party within the scope of authority.

 POSITION RELATIONSHIPS

The VP, Health Services reports to the President/CEO and is responsible for the supervision of the Director of Operations and District Managers as well as the indirect supervision of all other department managers.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:

  • Leads, directs and manages the Health Services division to achieve financial, non-financial, strategic, operational, contractual, personnel and marketing objectives
  • Provides management direction, develops plans and evaluates employees for professional growth and support
  • Ensures Valley’s strategic initiatives, vision, values, and goals are being met
  • Serves as a liaison between the corporate office, clients, and unit management staff while pursuing continuous improvement of unit operations
  • Ensures that the units within Operations meet all applicable regulatory and contractual obligations
  • Provides strategic input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization
  • Works with Business Development to achieve new client development and client retention for Health Services

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

College degree in Business, Food Service Administration, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related field required.  A minimum of ten (10) years management experience and five (5) years top management experience in multiple areas related to food service, such as finance, operation, personnel, marketing and administration.  Experience in developing organizational structure and communicating goals and objectives.  Proven experience in achieving financial results through operational goals as well as determining and capturing marketing/sales opportunities. ServSafe Certification required.

  • Must have the ability to make judgments concerning the interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Must have the ability to make decisions based on events that occur within the company
  • Job will require the ability to handle various complaints  
  • Job requires accepting the responsibilities for the direction and control of management activities
  • Must have the ability to coach or train management staff to meet the goals and objectives of the client and company
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience in expense management, financial planning, and strategic planning

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORTS

Physical:

Physical demand level is light with 20 pounds being demanded occasionally. Intermittent sitting and standing with wide freedom of movement.  Occasional lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.  Availability to travel extensively by vehicle and/or air, including overnight stays, is required.

Mental:

Works with minimal supervision.  Concentrates for long periods of time.  Attends to detail. Requires independent action and decision-making. Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality when providing information about employees, clients, vendors, and other company business.  Must be able to meet various competing deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment is an office setting.  Interacts with employees on a daily basis.  Works flexible hours as needed.  Will visit field locations where food is being prepared and served and client location if separate from the unit.
