Job Description


The School Aged Child Care Program Coordinator assists the Program Director with the overall operations of a YMCA child care center.  The incumbent plans, leads, and evaluates group experiences. The incumbent provides quality recreational experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Program Director in managing program sites in their District to ensure that operational guidelines are followed
  • Assist in the management of curriculum planning
  • Assist in the promotion of the branch and school age child care programs to the community
  • Ensure ongoing systematic observations and evaluations of each child
  • Take a leadership role in parent communication
  • Complete administrative work required to support the program



Qualifications - Required

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with school aged children or 1 year as a YMCA Lead Program Staff
  • Experience in planning, organizing, communicating and implementing school age recreation programs
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR; First Aid; and AED
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with school age children in a recreational setting
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, organization, creative problem solving, and human relations
  • Willingness to work with diverse populations

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Degree in education, recreation, or related field
  • Knowledge in planning, organizing, communicating and implementing school age recreation programs
  • Education in child development, child guidance, human relations, communication, or recreational programs or equivalent experience
