Teacher's Assistant - Hip & Fit
Hip & Fit is an afterschool program offered in Hartford at Dr. Frank T. Simpson-Waverly School and East Hartford at Anna E. Norris Elementary School. The program meets 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday) for 3 hours per day (12 hours per week) at Simpson-Waverly and 2.5 hours per day at Anna Norris (10 hours per week). Daily, students engage in structured activities that supplement the regular school curricula. Activities include physical education, health and wellness education, STEM, and the Scholars Club. The program employs a Project-Based Learning (PBL) model, and program activities are in alignment with the Common Core.
Assist instructors in daily lesson delivery.
Manage student behavior; establish a safe and accepting classroom environment conductive to learning; oversee program dismissal.
Teaching assistants must hold an A.S. degree or higher and have at least 1 year of experience working directly with children, including children with disabilities and special needs.
