Description

 

Under the leadership of the Executive Director the Senior Program Director will be responsible for assuring the accomplishment of the branch's  mission and initiatives through activities which grow and improve the branch's financial stability, program offerings, quality and consistency, participant registrations, retention and engage members in the areas of teens, family and youth development programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA.
  2. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  3. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  4. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  5. Schedule and organize pre-summer trainings and ensure staff are certified in required areas.
  6. Responsible for hosting and development of family programs, associated programs, and additional year round family programming and community engagement events.
  7. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign
  8. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  9. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  10. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on going training of staff.
  11. Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker.
  12. Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
  13. Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  14. Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  15. Requires a flexible schedule to maintain consistency and productivity for this department.
  16. Responsible for marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.

Minimum Requirements

 
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
  • Four or more years of program management experience preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • The ability to make decisions and manage conflicts is an expectation.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking  responsibilities.
  • Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to manage a budget over $100,000.00
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
