The District Executive Director is responsible for overall operation of assigned branches, which includes oversight of fiscal management, fund raising, advisory board development/management, strategic planning, employee and volunteer relations, quality program delivery, promoting membership growth and developing and maintaining collaborative community relationships.  A District Executive Director may be directly assigned to operate their own branch along with the oversight of additional branches.



  1. In conjunction with assigned Executive Directors, assure that Association Operations Plans (including best practices and clear lines of accountability) are developed and implemented.
  2. Working closely with Executive Directors, oversee and assist in the development of branch budgets and monitors operating results to ensure financial stability (meet or exceed budget) and growth.
  3. Monitor monthly financials and reports and provide explanations for variances as requested.
  4. Ensure the accurate and correct forecast of revenue/expense.
  5. Develop and execute a timely mitigation plan to correct budget shortfalls.
  6. In conjunction with the Development Department, create an annual fund raising plan and ensure that the plans are executed at the branch level.
  7. Provide support and technical assistance to Executive Directors on meeting fundraising goals.
  8. Assist Executive Directors in the identification and cultivations of community leaders who can help further the mission of the YMCA for assigned branches.
  9. Manage and develop advisory boards, provide staff support as needed.
  10. Assist in the development and execution of the Association strategic plan.
  11. Develop effective community collaborations and work to identify opportunities for program growth to address unmet needs.
  12. Work collaboratively with program staff to discuss program needs, inform program innovation and continually improve program quality.
  13. Work collaboratively with membership staff to promote, retain and ensure member satisfaction.
  14. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise assigned Executive Directors.
  15. Ensure that branches are staffed in an efficient manner, including the monitoring of payroll expenses and overtime and that all Association policies and procedures are followed.
  16. Ensure that our facilities are properly maintained and that we are providing a clean, safe environment for our members.
  17. Act as a leader, role model and mentor to other staff members.
  18. Act as a member of the Senior Leadership team.
  19. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements


  1. A bachelor's degree required, masters preferred with minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a YMCA branch and/or other YMCA leadership position, or similar combination of education and experience.

3.Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret reports and make data driven decisions.

4.Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

5.Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

6.Multi Team Branch Leadership certification or in process.

7.Must be willing to travel within service area and have access to privately maintained vehicle.

8.Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of Outlook, Work, Excel.
